Middletown Hit & Run Accident Lawyers
Holding Hit & Run Drivers Accountable
Hit-and-run accidents are car accidents that are caused by a driver who leaves the scene before they exchange identifying and insurance information with all other parties. As unthinkable as that situation might sound to you, someone who is a responsible driver, it actually unfolds all the time. Countless hit-and-run accidents happen across the country each day. If you have been in one, then you have to take legal action quickly if you want the best chance to make a recovery!
Call (860) 245-2412 and speak with a member of RisCassi & Davis, P.C. in Middletown. Our hit-and-run accident attorneys in Middletown would be happy to hear about what happened to see if we can be of help. In some cases, we can still file a claim against that driver – but you have to act fast!

If another driver flees the scene of your accident, then you should call the police immediately. The police might be able to track down the other driver, make an arrest, and allow you to hold them accountable, just as you would in any other car accident case. But they cannot do much if the driver has a literal head-start. The majority of hit-and-run drivers are never identified, but of those who are found, it is usually due to quick intervention from the authorities.
When you call the police, tell them the following information if possible:
- Vehicle make, model, and color
- License plate information
- Driver description
- Direction driver went to flee
- Part of the other car that hit yours
With some luck, the police will find the driver and make an arrest because committing a hit-and-run accident is illegal. At that point, your case can proceed like normal.
Do You Have Uninsured Motorist Insurance?
As frustrating as it is, most hit-and-run drivers get away with their crimes. It is really difficult to notice and remember identifying information about them to tell the police. Also, the police will have just as much trouble tracking that driver down even if they do get a decent lead. But your hit-and-run accident case is not over if the other driver is never found.
If you have uninsured motorist (UM) insurance that you purchased from your auto insurance provider, then you could be in luck. UM insurance is designed to pay for damages that cannot be covered by a driver with no insurance. However, it can also be used to pay for damages when the liable driver simply cannot be found or contacted, such as after a hit-and-run accident.
Most UM insurance policies can help pay for:
- Medical bills
- Vehicle repairs
- Lost wages
- Pain and suffering
You need to add UM insurance to your policy. It is not a standard feature in the majority of insurance policies. If you do not have UM insurance, then we will need to consider a different avenue to get you the compensation you deserve if possible.
