What started out as an intense tropical storm on June 8th, turned into an absolutely beautiful day for the 7th annual Jim Calhoun Cancer Challenge Walk and Ride. The event was created by Coach Calhoun in 2007 to raise dollars for the Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center at the UConn Health Center. All of us at RisCassi & Davis proudly support the event as major donors, participants and volunteers and have since its inception.
In fact, since the event began, over $1.4 million has been raised. Those dollars have made it possible for the UConn Cancer Center to recruit over 800 patients to clinical trials while supporting pilot research projects studying colon cancer, immunologic responses to proteins, and tumor sequencing. Additionally, the funds raised have made it possible for a disadvantaged woman from across the state to receive life-saving breast cancer screenings.
We are very proud to be able to support all of Coach Calhoun’s charitable efforts that, in addition to this event, include his efforts to fight heart disease and feed the hungry among us.
