“We put the client first, and whether it requires our time, our effort, our money, our sweat, they get it…”
To be really excellent at something, you need to focus. If you’re a generalist, you can be good at some things, but to be exceptional, you really have to focus on one particular thing. We don’t do real estate closings, we don’t do business transactions. All we do is personal injury law.
We have a resource that very few firms can match and that is the collective wisdom of the lawyers that are part of our firm. There are eleven of us. If you added up all the years of experience, from Bill Davis right on down to Patrick Kennedy, there are hundreds of years of legal experience.
If any one of us have an issue in a case, we have the great luxury of being able to walk across the hall, walk down the stairs and find somebody else who’s probably handled that issue in the past, talk to them about it and brainstorm. At RisCassi and Davis, we work together toward a common goal. Everybody realizes how important the work that we do is and people get along really well.
At RisCassi and Davis, it’s not like you’re working with a couple hundred people so it becomes a very personal type setting. Law firms, particularly smaller law firms, tend to take on the personality from the lead partner. In this firm, we’ve been extraordinarily fortunate to have that person be Bill Davis. He has taught us to be aggressive, effective advocates who believe in doing the right thing, which is treating our clients like the human beings they are.
We believe it is extremely important to be on the same page and to have the same goal as our clients. That goal is to do the very best job we can for the individual client. We put the client first, and whether it requires our time, our effort, our money, our sweat, they get it.
Every case and every client is unique. We’ve had lots of cases where we would really love to be able to spend three weeks putting this trial on, but sometimes the best interest of the client is served by effectuating the best possible settlement for them.
None the less, we still prepare every single case as if it was going to be tried. One of the things that is most important to us and is part of our great reputation, that we enjoy, is great preparation. The insurance industry knows we’re prepared and we will take a case to its end, to verdict. The judges know we’re prepared, defense council knows we’re prepared and it’s in large part because of that that we end up doing so well for our clients.
If we can make a difference in someone’s life, make things a little bit right and help them navigate through the legal system, we’ve done our job.
